Due to poor participation, extra tutoring sessions held on Thursday evenings at Holmen High School have been canceled for the rest of the semester (April 29 and May 6.)
We will still have required tutoring on Mondays in Holmen! Our last two sessions for the academic year are Monday, April 26 and Monday, May 3.
UW-La Crosse started hosting an Upward Bound program in 1979. Since then we've helped hundreds of
area high school students focus on success in high school and in college. A TRIO program,
funded by the U.S.
Department of Education, UB's mission is to provide academic and motivation- al support so area students, who
might be the first in their family to attend college and/or who come from low-income homes, can be accepted
at and graduate from college.
"And so tonight, I ask every American to commit to at least one year or more of higher education or career training.
This can be community college or a four-year school; vocational training or an apprenticeship. But whatever the training
may be, every American will need to get more than a high school diploma." - President
Barack Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress, February 24, 2009
