Ok, well, ummmm, hmmmm .... It's been a while since we've posted anything here! But that's going to CHANGE!!!

First off, we had a GREAT SUMMER! with many wonderful, hard-working UB students who realized some of the benefits of sticking with it and having good goals (and having great UB tutors!!)This is a pic of some Fine Dine participants about half way through the summer. There are many more at our FB page!

If you attended summer UB, PLEASE COMPLETE THE SUMMER EVALUATION by September 8!

Secondly, we have a great new school year planned ! You can learn more about this (calendar, news of upcoming events, etc.) at our web page!

Our first event of the new year is our WELCOME/WELCOME BACK program on Saturday, September 8 from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. in room 1309 (Skogen Auditorium) in Centennial Hall at UW-L. Get more info at our website and complete the RSVP by August 31.

SENIORS! It's time to put all that effort you made this summer into good use. UB's COLLEGE APPLICATION WORKSHOPS for seniors and their parents is scheduled on Wednesday, September 12 AND Wednesday, September 19 from 5 to 9 p.m. (arrive no later than 8:30) in room 17 Wing Technology Center. Paul, Kate and Lisa will be on hand to help you finish your college apps! No appointment is necessary. It should take about an hour. Please check the web site to make sure you bring all the right bits of info (it will make things MUCH easier if you do!)

12th nightOur last optional event of the semester!

See Shakespeare's classic comedy, Twelfth Night, as performed by the UW-L Theater Department on Friday, December 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Toland Theater, UW-L Fine Arts Center (16th and Vine Streets).

You must sign up at tutoring or by email no later than Friday, November 19 if you wish to attend.

If you say you are going, we will get you a ticket worth $10 and we will expect you to be there! If you aren't there, we will deduct at least $10 from your stipend.**

If necessary, you may find a UB student to attend in your place to avoid the deduction. If you must find a sub, please email to let me know by December 2.

** Sparta and Tomah students - we will offer a ride from SPARTA only. It will leave from the Country Kitchen, 741 Avon Road at 6:30 p.m. and return when the play is done (probably about 10:30 p.m., but that's an ESTIMATE). If you sign up but don't show up and your absence means we could have saved money by renting a smaller vehicle, we will deduct part or all of the extra vehicle cost from your stipend in addition to the ticket cost.

Local students who attend should plan to be at the Toland Theater lobby no later than 7:15 p.m. You will meet a UB tutor there and get your ticket.

If you have any questions, please email. Here's more info about the play.

p.s. Sometimes students can get extra credit in English classes if they go to an event and turn in a written summary of their experience. Ask your English teacher.
